Guest guest
Well that's the catch -- does the news agency simply not know the difference between a Living Will and an Advanced Directive? Because it seems to me that they're trying to say they're getting rid of OOH DNR's. Yet it also seems to me disturbing that an Anesthesiologist would advocate that. -- Alyssa Woods, NREMT-B CPR Instructor On Wed, Apr 20, 2011 at 9:22 PM, scarborough_fp@... < scarborough_fp@...> wrote: > > > It appears as though this is another example of a family going against > their loved ones wishes. Guest guest
Gene: make that the average AMERICAN anesthesiologist knows little about emergency care beyond airway management...(and even then, they have been known to call to the ED for a problem airway ). in much of the rest of the world, the gas passing physicians provide much of both emergency and intensive care. Interestingly enough, out there, they are often known as anesthetists....a term limited in the US to Nurses who have qualified as gas passers. ck In a message dated 04/21/11 01:19:08 Central Daylight Time, wegandy1938@... writes: Alyssa, The average anesthesiologist knows NOTHING about emergency care. Guest guest
Yeah, but they're not elected to the State Legislature. So that puts them at least a step above the members of the Lege. You have to be REALLY stupid to get elected to the Texas Lege. NYuk, Nyuk! Drool, drool. You have to be a Rock or a decaying Gila Monster to get elected to the AZ Lege. The intellectual level of the rock and the dead Gila Monster would far surpass the cumulative learning and wisdom of the Arizona Legislature. Then, there's our own version of Cactus Barbie, Governor Jan Brewer. What an icon for bad breath she is. The Texas Lege is the school for exceptional children compared to the AZ Lege. The cumulative mass of brains form the AZ Lege wouldn't even tilt the IQ scale. There is a negative force there. The average IQ of an Arizona politician is somewhere in the area of minus 40-70. Our Governor brings that up slightly since she can count and trim her toenails, with help, but not much else. To expect that a member of either legislature would have a cat's hair's understanding of an EMS issue, or care, is like expecting Obama, Gaddafi, Queen , Osama ben Laden, and the Pope to sit down and plan a pig roast at Mecca. Let me see. Who have I not offended? Let me know and I'll try again. Oh, I forgot Sheriff Joe, our Hero. Could have been a Texas Ranger if he was in Texas, except that he can't wear boots. They hurt his feet. Gene G. Re: Re: Seriously? > > > Well that's the catch -- does the news agency simply not know the difference > between a Living Will and an Advanced Directive? Guest guest
Yes, I know that. Archie Brain, who invented the LMA, and Frass, who invented the Combitube are certainly aware, but they are not average. The folks who contributed to the SLAM book include Brett Arnoldo from Southwest Medical School Dallas, Tareg Bey, UC Irvine, Beck, Anesthesiologist, who invented the Beck Whistle, Janice Follmer, Summit Anesthesia, Frisco, CO, Harold Genzsuerker, U H Mannheim, Germany, Abid Ghafoor, Prof. of Anesthesiology, Arkansas Children's, Little Rock, Hunt, Co-Director, Parkland Burn Unit, Pete Kraft, University of Vienna, Andy Mason, Immediate Care Physician, Suffolk Accident Rescue Service, Ipswich, UK, Migala, DO, former Army Special Forces Doctor, Dave Nagel Nanan,, MD, Ed Pierre, Prof Anes, U of Miami Trauma Center, Purdue, Cp-Director Parkland Burn Center, Mike Ramsey, Chief of Service, Anesthesiology and Pain Management, Baylor University MC, Dallas, Micha Y Shamir, Attending Anesthesiologist, Hebrew U Medical School, Jerusalem, Darko Vodopich, Dept of Anesthesiology, Kaiser Permanante, Walnut Creek, CA, and many others. There are many GREAT physicians out there who GET IT. The aforementioned are just some of them that I know and have had the privilege of teaching and lecturing with. Andy Mason and Migala are probably the two most experienced anesthesiologists who have extensive experience in the field. Andy was a " fly-car doc " in the UK for 40 years. He pioneered the use of the intubating LMA in trauma patients trapped and inaccessible for standard ETI, and who was a Delta Force doc and did umpteen surgical airways in pitch blackness in Iraq. None of these people are average. Some of them are Americans, some are not, but none of them are typical of AMERICAN anesthesiologists. GG Re: Re: Seriously?
