Guest guest
Grace, I have migraines due to Cervical Spinal Stenosis. Sometimes the Gach Pressure Points work for me, and other times, I just can't relax enough to 'let' them work I don't think. At those times, I take Axert. Here are some other medications I've heard others mention: Fiorcet or Midrin, Maxalt and Topamax. Here's what a fellow list member told me: I have had migraine and " other " kinds of HA's for years. Up until this last hospitalization I used to take Midrin, which was a mild vasoconstrictor, a muscle relaxer, and Tylenol. Since they couldn't give me anything with a vasoconstrictor in it, they prescribed Fiorcet. it has Tylenol, a sedative or muscle relaxer, and caffeine. I too had a HA in the middle of the night....was really bad then when I got up, and two of the Fiorcets helped tremendously. These are used for migraines as well as tension HAs. nothing else seems to work when I get these. I have Many pain meds, but none work when I get these really bad HAs except for these. Luckily, I haven't had nausea along with it as that always complicates everything. Another list member wrote: I have found for migraines for me, daily prophylaxis of Inderal helps and when migraines do begin, Imitrex, Zomig and Maxalt all help. And the last one I have from a fellow list member is: Zomig.. the kind that melt in your mouth for quicker absorption was the best for me. Hope these ideas help. Headaches are the WORST in MY book! Guest guest
I had migraines for years. One was so bad I was told that is what caused the grand mal seizure I had.-- But also I was taken cold turkey off Valium. So who knows what really caused the seizure. Anyhow, back to the migraines. Mine were caused by two things, one was chocolate, and one was hormones. Since I don't eat chocolate, and my hormones are no longer active because of menopause ....no more migraines. YEA! When I still was getting them, I used Midrin to relieve them. Some people aren't so lucky to have the first med tried work so well. Hope the cause can be found soon, and also a good treatment to use....medication and/or otherwise. Love, Cindy Does anyone get Migranes I've had a hgead ache now for 7 dats. I was in the hospital Tues and most of Weds. They said I didn't have any anurisums on my brain and they failed to do a spoinal. They kept hitting to many nerves....UGH. Anyways I was wondering if anyone else had migrains and what do you do for them>? Guest guest
Grace, I suffer badly from Migraines sometimes, I wonce had one last 12 days and what broke that was actually a NSAID that broke the cycle. I findthe best things are massage therapy and osteopathy to prevent them and if I do get them then I take a combination of a medication for migraines (cafergot) which is only good if you get warning signs and I also take 2 Mersyndol (a pain killer + calmative) this way the cafergot prevents the full blown migraine and the mersyndol gets rid of the headache etc I already have. Sometimes i still get layed out with it and then I have to be in a dark, quiet room and NOT move and have a bucket (as I get sick)and not have any smells either (I once got set off by my partner opening a takeaway chinese dinner in the loungeroom (the other end of the house) and this set of a vomiting fit. I have found that a lot of mine copme from neck, upper back and shoulder tension etc. Good luck with yours and I hope you find somehting that works for you.
