Guest guest
, You must be in a lot of pain with having both the hips and knees involved. How long has this been happening? Have they been able to find *anything* to help-- even one little bit-- to stop the IT bands from doing this? I didn't even know the IT Band went up as far as the hip until I saw it on the list a while back. I thought it was just around the knee. Nothing was ever said or done for the IT at the knee til I went to sports medicine doctor who did the reconstructive surgeries. He knew right off besides a PCL, an IT band surgery was needed too. The donor tendon has made a world of difference on the success of that type of surgery for me. Just lately I was writing back and forth on this subject with someone off list. about the IT band....and she got me to thinking about the problems that have developed with my hips. I've seen lots of diagrams and pictures of the hip anatomy, but until yesterday, while at the surgeons office and looking at a different view, I finally put the pieces together. That might be what the real problem is in that area. Could the IT band stuff lead to a bursitis in the hips too. CindyH Wisc. ~~~ From: Pedersen They don't know why I'm having IT Band problems it is very confusing to all the dr's I've seen. My problem is functional as well as pain. I am having problems with my hip but my knees do exactly what you said yours used to do they go out of joint when I roll over in bed also. Cindy~~ What did you " figure out " seeing the new pictures? I am so curious because my IT band at the butt/hip area is a real bother as you know. Just wondering if you came up with anything else that you have not mentioned to me before. Debbi Re: re: IT Band problems , You must be in a lot of pain with having both the hips and knees involved. Guest guest
And did the surgeon say that there was anything that could be done in the hip area if the knee is not involved or did you not get into that? Just VERY curious! Debbi Re: re: IT Band problems , You must be in a lot of pain with having both the hips and knees involved. How long has this been happening? Guest guest
Thanks Cindy. Keep me posted. Are you going to the conference? Debbi Re: re: IT Band problems From: Debbi Brown And did the surgeon say that there was anything that could be done in the hip area if the knee is not involved or did you not get into that? ~~ We didn't get into it. He had quite enough to say about the TKR and how he'd handle the loose ligament issues. If he got any more serious about what was involved because of all the reconstructions I've had, I think I'd of cried. So my mind wasn't on my hips right then ---except when I was waiting to go to x-ray....that's when I checked out the chart. Of all my docs he seems to the one to ask though. I'm sure I'll be seeing plenty of him for awhile. So I'll let you know what he has to say- if anything. Cindy
