Guest guest
Hi, Folks. Well, Dr Gross & staff didn't know I had that sort of reaction to morphine. Neither did I! They asked, of course, if I had any allergies to the different drugs and I said, " no. " However, I had gall bladder surgery years ago and had morphine and after that surgery -- I also had a HUGE panic attack (and all the other little panic attacks that surround the big one). It was so similar to what I had this time that I KNEW it was related to the morphine. I did some research... sure enough, it is one of the reactions to that drug. Rare, they say, but it happens. I don't know what the alternative it -- but maybe next time just hit me on the head with a hammer and let me wake up with a headache ! Guest guest
Hi Joyce, Hope your getting better. I leave for belgium tommorow. I was wondering where you live and what kinda insurance UHC you have . I have gone through 2 denials with UHC of Co. and have been just frustrated with the whole process. I would love to find out about your version of UHC and possible use it as ammunition to get some type of reimbersment when I get back. Thanks Mike > Hi, Folks. Guest guest
I think they'd make you leave Australia if you were an Ozzie. Guest guest
Life is such a hoot.... Somewhere in me I knew the story would one day be funny -- and my sister and I have enough cosmic humor to laugh at just about anything. (Someday I'll write about the humor of being a prowling midnight zombie due to post-op insomnia; that's fun with crutches under the arms and the pillow between the legs!) But you're too right about panic not being funny when one is in the middle of it. Body/mind connection is fascinating, though. The chemical balance and what happens when that's out of whack. Guest guest
ine, I just read about being afraid to get in trains, planes, boats, tunnels, etc. Yeah, that's the fear of " What if I'm in a small, crowded place or a place I cannot escape and I have a panic attack??! " Our bodies carry memory of trauma -- and a panic attack is a trauma. To one of its extremes, this is what's behind agoraphobia -- " fear of the market place. " Have you gotten an RX for panic/anxiety? If not, think about asking for some temporary help by way of alprozolam or something like it. It can be used situationally and can help overcome the fear of doing those things (better living through pharmacology, right? I know, that's what got us into this mess in the first place). Anyway, my guess is that if you had meds to steady you for a couple of trips -- you'd soon be over the fear. I'm really glad folks are talking about this.
