Guest guest
When did Dr. Fetto join one of the U.S. trials? When I researched resurfacing for myself two years ago, no doctor in NY was participating in the trials. (One surgeon, at St. Luke's/Roosevelt had recently dropped out at the time.) NYU is my primary physician's homebase and I talked with a top OS, who was sticking to the same surgery he'd been doing for 15 years. So, only traditional THRs were being performed there (as well as at the famous Hospital for Special Surgery, where I also interviewed the leading-edge OS). But I'm glad that was the case, as I found my miracle in Baltimore, performed by Dr. s, in the Corin trial. Anyway, please let me know about this Dr. Fetto; I'd like to keep up to date with what's going on in my own backyard, particularly for referral purposes. Thank you. Guest guest
Regarding OS's in NYC. . . isn't Dr Alan Ingals part of the Cormet study. . . .. . . I find it so surprising that both NYU Medical Center (where my bone on bone was diagnosed) and the HSS do not have any info nor do their surgeons perform Resurfacing. I find it so " shocking " for a place that one thinks of as being a mecca for info and the best one can get. Guest guest
Alyce: Dr. Allan Inglis (Jr., I believe), was the doctor I referenced at Roosevelt. He had initially been in one the two U.S. trials, but dropped out. I believe he later rejoined, but not until after my surgery. Yes, it was shocking to me, as well. The OS I met with at HSS is " the man " for OS in NY. High on the list of New York Mag's top docs, one of Liza with a Z's hip surgeons and frequently quoted in New York and national media, Dr. Sculco basically pooh poohed me when I mentioned resurfacing. As did the highly respected Dr. Lamont at NYU, where my primary wanted me to go. Sculco and Lamont each had his own favorite THR device and efficient way of doing things. Neither knew much about the progress resurfacing had made in the past decade, and neither cared to listen. Anyway, that's the way it was in this great medical Mecca of Manhattan. I haven't checked the list of trial participants lately; so, perhaps there are more local surgeons that have joined the trials. In any event, I 'm glad I did my Baltimore thing (I met and interviewed both Drs. Mont and s in land and decided on the latter, as I preferred the Corin device, as well as the surgeon's personality.) It could not have turned out better.
