I doubt that any President has the power to stop SSA/SSDI/SSI checks as theyare not part of the general budget--I think that the mere threat of this is intended(wisely or no) to give the far Right an idea of whom in all constituencies might be affectedif a reasonable deal should not be reached. I have decided to cancel panic--for now.I called SSA in several (5) offices and was told that they had not YET been given anyofficial orders, and that as most SSA/SSDI/SSI checks are processed on the first orsecond of the month, and land between the 1at and the 3d, they doubted whether anychecks could be delayed for August. For those receiving their checks at a later date,let us hope and pray that the dilemma has been resolved by then!Love to you all,n, who has spent much of the day researching this--- On

There are multiple systems by which recipients/beneficiaries receive benefits.A very dear cousin of mine receives (or has received hers) on the 13th, or the earliest banking day before that--got it a bit late this month. She dropped bySSA today where she lives and was told that NEXT month she will start receivingher SSA check on the 3d, or the nearest banking day before that. I have a strongfeeling that neither political party (no party) wants to alienate senior citizens, disabledveterans, etc., and go on record as paying themselves. I just hope that I am right!I am all for holding up the pay of both Houses of Congress before SSA/SSDI/SSI,Medicare/Medicaid are affected, nor hospital payments!!!!!!!(Gasp!)Love to you, nne, and to all here with us,nP.S. Thank you n for your research.I, too, believe it is just a threat by the President. I heard the soundbite on the radio earlier today. His comment was intended to scare the stuffing out of all of us on SS/SSI. When we are scared we will all contact our congressmen to urge then to take whatever deal the Obama administration offers, I suppose. I'll tell you one thing for sure. If my check doesn't come on time I will be spitting mad at everyone--the House, the Senate and the President. None of them should think I would ever vote for a single one of them if I have to do without my check! I agree with n--cancel panic. For now at least. ok herb gets ssd on the 2nd wen of the month, due to bday is sept 1...i get my ssd on the 3rd wen of the month, due to bday is the 17...we was told it ( ssd ) goes by the bday, will this is how it is in somerset county, i how by next door nab, is the same way. but my mother in law gets her ssi in the 1st , and her ss one the 3rd of each month

Both Robbin and I get it on the 1st, however, it usually comes in the day before (the last day of the month) unless the 1st is on a weekend or holiday, when it will come in on the last Friday before the weekend/holiday. Robbin's birthday is the 29th, mine the 21st (actually, mine is the 21st...of July!)

Okay.. this much knowledge I do have guys..IF the only social security that you receive is the disability... then it goes by birthday, and you receive on whichever Wednesday it happens to be.. When I first started receiving my check I was the 3rd Wednesday of the month.. If it's SSI, it's always the 1st (and all but the Wednesday checks) but vary if the date falls on a Sunday.).. Direct Deposit will happen at midnight on the last day of the month, technically being the 1st, for the first.. if it's a paper check you will receive it on the last day of the month, so there will be no problem with mail delivery.. and you will have it in hand for the 1st.. NOW.. where the fun part comes in.. IF you qualify for "dual" benefits then your delivery date will change, as mine did when I qualified for dual benefits, to the 1st & 3rd.. Although I thought they were phasing in the 3rd for regular retirement benefits too for the Wednesday by birthday delivery thing I'm not positive that it has actually happened.. therefore regular retirement benefits come on the 3rd as wellSSI, is for those who didn't have enough work credits to qualify for SSD. Those who qualify for SSD but their benefits aren't high enough, will qualify for a SSI supplement to bring them to the minimum of $701 (or close that) each month. My SSD isn't high enough, and I do qualify for SSI.. BUT because I live with , and I don't pay rent, I'm excluded from the SSI portion of the benefits.. though I still receive the state portion of the SSI benefits (that little $20 plus separate check you received on the 1st while you were here in PA Akiba).. Though my previous DPW caseworker screwed everything up enough that I was being cut from ALL state assistance.. fortunately she moved on to another office -- not so fortunate for the people served by her new office though -- and my new caseworker took one look at the record and said.. "that's not right!".. then worked all afternoon to get their system straightened out so that the state is paying for my medicare premium and providing me with medical assistance to cover what medicare (and my primary insurance) doesn't.. (Losing nearly $100 from a total of $557 in SSD benefits, just wouldn't be a good thing).. AND he got me back into the system where I am receiving the $21 or 22 each month, in a check, as well.. whereas the last two case managers, got me knocked back from that to $7.80 a month, (which turned into $2.80 a month when they did the $5 cut across the board) and the one after her, got me knocked out of everything.. All goes to show.. depends on who your worker is, and just how willing they are to actually DO their job.. Most of them are willing to do the little bit of extra paperwork involved.. but just ONE bad apple.. well you've all heard that adage before... I'm sure..HUGS|)onna, who will try to get caught up on mail.. now that whatever happened seems to be NOT happening anymore -- though all my machines were clean of anything more pesky than "adware" or "trackers".. and provided everyone doesn't decide to call me on the phone this morning.. again..
