Guest guest
Hello all I was wondering how people go about getting such a van. I had bought a van that I hoped I could make accessible; however now realize that I bought nothing but trouble and it is not suitable for my power chair. Meanwhile it sits unused in a van that is crumbling under the weight. I cant get my chair out - and even if I could I live on a second story which can not be accommodated. In addition I know of no other persons house I can keep it at; which would not do me much good - as I need it with me. It is now apparent that physically I can go without it no longer. How do people afford a already accessible van? Even used ones seem to cost about $30,000. Vocational Rehabilitation will not help me with this. Looking on line; when seeing a van; do they deliver it to you? - - many places do not seem to even have address? Thanks to anyone who can clear up the mystery. laxity@... Guest guest
I don't think there are organizations that will get the van for a disabled person. You have to own the van already. Then there might be help adapting it. DVR helped me with that. If you find out otherwise, I'd love to know about it. My van is way up there in miles, and I'm sure it doesn't have too much more time before major repair expenses do me in... sk > Hello all > > I was wondering how people go about getting such a van. > > I had bought a van that I hoped I could make accessible; however now realize > that I bought nothing but trouble and it is not suitable for my power chair. > Meanwhile it sits unused in a van that is crumbling under the weight. Guest guest
Wheel chair accessible vans? Hello all I was wondering how people go about getting such a van. AJ - contact your local ALS/Lou Gehrig's Society. When a person with ALS passes on, members usually sell their w/c accessible van. Also try the arthritis foundation near you. Guest guest
Thanks for the idea bonnie!!! I have a friend who lost a friend to ALS and slowly got up enough courage to approach her. Of course by then the van had moved on. I hadnt thought of contacting the group themselves. Great idea. thanks On 5/21/04 2:25 PM, " ceda " ceda > wrote: > > Subject: Re: Wheel chair accessible vans? > > AJ - contact your local ALS/Lou Gehrig's Society.
