Just talked to Amstutz after he reviewed my

6-week-but-really-not-quite-5-week X-rays.

Everything looks great - I'm off of bending restrictions, allowed to

100% weight bear as comfort allows, and I'm cleared for PT!!!!!

So, Des, how long before I can kick my students in the head again?

Hey Steve glad to hear everything is going great. What do you mean

by bending , how far? Like putting your socks on kind or just

getting around? How is your sleeping going? I find it is still

uncomfortable to sleep at night but can't imagine with 2hips like

yours. Still have friends coming over to help with your stuff or you

getting along ok. Driving yet?

Keep in touch Mike

Well, just to celebrate I clipped my toenails last night and

then put on my socks like a quasi-normal person. Even managed

to pick a couple of things up off the floor this morning without

a reacher.

However, this afternoon's trip to McGuckin's (Boulder insider

reference) was not quite so pleasant. Apparently, some of Boulder's

more eager shoppers view a pair of crutches as a neon sign reading

" Please shove past me - I won't mind if you knock me over " .

I'm afraid I exhausted my limited command of Anglo-Saxon.

I actually managed to roll onto my right side last night for a couple

of hours. I still mostly slept on my back, though.

I'm okay. It's nice to be at least somewhat self-sufficient.

YES!

The only difficult part was getting in (17 year-old Porsche 944

Turbo). After that, it was a piece of cake.
