Guest guest
Tomorrow the 21ST will be the date I was to have my resurfacing. I now am looking into other centers that do this procedure and am positive I will find one that is comfortable with me and I with them.I blew a fuse of sorts and it cost me my needed surgery. Guest guest
DON, Hang in there. Stay focused. Find a doctor you are comfortable with and move forward. Did you find someone to help you through the mental aspects of this? Everyone reacts differently to this, both pre op and post op, both mentally and physically. Get yourself mentally and phisically prepared and put this behind you. In the grand scheme of things, from my perpective and experience, this is a " painless " walk in the park. I will have to admit, when I was headed to down to surgery I noticed an exit sign and I nearly unplugged the IV and ran like hell. The exit sign seemed like it was ten feet tall and screaming for me to run. I think this is a natural response. That was just over two weeks ago. I can tell you first hand there is nothing to fear. I returned to work one week later, started driving everywhere at ten days, coaching several sports, working out in the pool and in the gym and I resumed my normal life within two weeks. The last time I took any pain medication was on the day three following surgery. I have not needed it. My family is constantly scolding me and chasing me around with my crutches and forcing me to stay on them. I don't need them, but I am doing my best to follow the orders. This is a small price to pay to get your life back. You will get through this. I hope things work out well for you. I look forward to reading your posts about your successful recovery and pain free life. Best of luck and let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. Has anyone heard from Art? He is scheduled this week with with JRI- OH. He visited me in the hospital to find out about more about the procedure. I have a vested interest in his recovery as he was a professional golfer and he owes me a golf lesson when we are all fully recovered. Good luck Art. Best to all.......Dr. Amstutz 5/04/04 > Tomorrow the 21ST will be the date I was to have my resurfacing.
