Guest guest
Good for you Cindy. My first anniversary of my second resurf is today. It's 2.5 years since the first. Last night, I went to my usual karate class which I teach and did about 15 min. of sparring, including head kicks. My students range from 15 to 21 so they're pretty quick. Got popped a few times by one of my students but nothing more serious than some bruises. Most satisfying of all was the way I could move around without the pain. I know just how you feel. Believe me you don't need to be an athlete to feel grateful. It's the same feeling in a different context, that's all. A week early, but tonight I walked Glendoveer golf course here in Portland. It is our local golf course with a fitness track around the outside of the course. Total walk was 2 miles. I tried Glendoveer once, many years pre-op, made it to the first turn (about 1/8 of a mile) and turned around and went home. I realize this is nothing for the runners or the more fit of you, but pre-op, I was barely able to walk to my next door neighbors house. In January, when I was determined to really start exercising, I barely made it to the 1/4 mile mark on the video ( Sansone walking video) before being ready to collapse. As usual, my lower back tried to go into spasms, and by the end my legs were starting to feel a little jelly-like, but I made it. I feel like I've had a good workout, and my legs will probably be sore tomorrow, but I HAVE NO PAIN!!!! How good is that??!!!!!!

Fred, I tried rollerblading for my first anniversary. Funny that you say it is easier, because I find roller skating MUCH easier. I am not at all confident on rollerblades. Dr. Boyd asked me nicely not to rollerblade, so I have put my blades in the closet. I didn't promise not to roller skate though, and am determined to try that once again ;-).
