Guest guest
Yes it is a common practice especially with gastros. They are involved in many research projects. As long as it is disclosed do not be alarmed. IT IS WHEN IT IS NOT disclosed that you need to run, run as fast as you can to a different doctor and never look back! They also receive monetary " incentives " from many of the drug manufacturers to carry and prescribe some products. In my hubby's Harley sales experience, these incentives are called " spiffs " . So if he recommends for instance one brand of oil filter over another, he can earn himself $5 per filter he sells of the brand that does spiffs. The spiffs aren't always given for some of the better brands, either.....it's often a tool to move more of the crummier brands. So if this is true of the medical profession, I sure don't want to be the recipient of the cheapest/least effective/more dangerous medicine for my condition!
