Guest guest
Phew! We've had a wild week. On Weds we had to leave at 5am, drive almost 7 hours straight to get to Hamilton where I saw the cardiologist for my appt. RE my constant tachycardia. He and his resident were both really good. I was happy with both of them. They checked my blood pressure laying down and then sitting and it dropped so I'm schduled for a really in depth tilt table study that will take half a day to complete. I'm not much looking forward to being strapped to a tilt table hooked up to blood pressure and heart rate monitors, an EKG and an IV for 3 hours getting blood regularly drawn and if I don't faint on my own in their time box they'll make me faint with IV meds as one of the tests is to see how my body responds to a faint. But I am happy just the same that the test will be so thorough as I know they're doing a good job at getting to the bottom of things. Basically they're trying to determine whether my tachy is sinus tachycardia or postural orthostatic tachycardia, or a combonation of both. Once we know which then we'll dabble in more drugs (I'm still on my 2X daily metoprolol beta blocker). One good thing is that they are pretty darn sure my intense nausea and even vomiting and other unpleasant issues I've been putting up with are directly related to my tachy. It sure is nice to know WHY I feel like that, and even with the beta blocker I " ve had more days iwth an appetite and even..gasp..hunger! :-D Because I require such a big time slot for my tilt table my date will probably be for Oct or Nov. I'm suppose to see them again a few weeks after the test to talk results, but I'm looking into a telehealth conference or something so I don't have to go through such an awful drive too many more times. My other news is that I saw my back surgeon today. Today's 12 week x- rays showed that my fracture has healed! Yayyyyyyyy! Whoo hoo!! :- D :-D :-D I'm allowed to start the process of ditching my brace :-D I don't have to wear it at all in the house, eventually I can go for a little safe venture outside without it, but if I go into crowds I still have to wear it to protect things a little while longer. He thinks after my next (and hopefully final) visit with him in 6 weeks time I won't have to wear it at all! :-D Yayyyyy! I am just thrilled :-) I went 3.5 hours without it before my back started hurting enough to put it back on again. Sure is a relief to loose the brace in this terribly hot, muggy, weather! So that's my news! Happy day, for sure ;-) -Rhea
