Guest guest
Hi, I had my BHR eight weeks ago, I went for my checkup yesterday, all was well apart from where my scar is there is a place about the size of a thumb nail that is refusing to heal. My surgeon said it should have healed by now. He says he wants me to go back into hospital for a couple of days for him to have a look at it. He thinks it may be a stitch underneath, which is not allowing the surface to heal. I will have to have a General anasetic. He thinks it will take about 20 mins. I wondered if anyone had heard or expeerienced this before as I haven't. About four weeks ago I had a swab taken from it and was given antibiotics as a precaution. I am a bit disappointed at this setback & not sure what to expect after this little op. Thankyou for reading. Sheila UK.
Guest guest
Hi Sheila, I am about 9 weeks post op (BHR) and have a very similar problem. Been a bit perplexed about it but it is gradually healing. I went back to treating it like the open wound it was after surgery, e.g. dressing the area. Also applying some anteseptic powder really helped. I only went back to a GP who was not sure if it was an infection or not, he gave me antibiotics but I decided not to take them and it is healing anyway. The area affected on my scar is at the bottom of the incision which was also the last area to heal in my case. (Near where the stitches end). I really suspect I was sitting upright and past the 90 degrees too early, putting pressure on the area of the wound I described above. Whatever it is, don't worry about the minor op. Should be nothing compared to 8 weeks ago. Cheers .
