its the muscle that connects your hip to your spine and ends under your

ribs

its importantant in hip flexion

Click on this link http://www.exrx.net/Exercise.html

and then select Articulations, then Hip, then any of the other links that lead

to Iliopsoas link which will show you the psoas muscle and its position and top

& bottom attachments as ell as exercises.
