Guest guest
ASR is the DePuy brand name for metal-on-metal hip resurfacing. There are a lot of members here who have had the same, though many using other brands. There is a list of surgeons doing resurfacing (of all brands) in Canada here: http://www.ActiveJoints.com/canada.html You may want to review materials in the files section of surfacehippy as well as that information at http:/www.ActiveJoints.com There is information specficially on DePuy ASR in the " News " section of ActiveJoints.com. Hope that helps. - > Having just heard about ASR through the media, it seems that my family > doctor and the local medical community know little about it's outcome, > reliability, availability or recent history of successes or failures. Guest guest
Dear Greg, I'm a bit confused. Do you by any chance mean BHR, for the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing and which I under stand your doc in Toronto performs? I'm not sure what ASR stands for. Guest guest
Hello Sheila; ASR stands for Articular Surface Replacement. I believe that this is the same as BHR, but would like clarification. Dr. u at Montreal General Hospital/ McGill seems to be the authority in this procedure in Canada, but I am looking for more info ref: experienced surgeons in this procedure in Canada. Dr. u's website is http://orthodoc.aaos.org/links2.cfm?webid=1773 If anyone in Canada who has had this procedure done is on the surfacehippy, I would much appreciate their input.
