Guest guest
I thoroughly agree Chris. I was really pretty shocked at what had to say as well. Walking 3 miles on crutches on day 10 is pushing it...but walking the 3 miles back with NO crutches is....well...(sorry ), just not smart. Did you tell Dr. Amstutz you did this? As you surely must know, you need time for your soft tissue and muscles to heal. Plus, you run the risk of fracturing the femoral area. Why go through the surgery only to put yourself at risk? I know you are an athlete and it is oh so difficult to wait and heal properly. But please, for your own continued good health....be kinder to your body. It's had a severe trauma. Lois C+ 3/27/03 Dr. Mont Help me out , . What part of walking 3 miles to the hospital with your crutches tucked under your arm is following JRI's rules? You must have received a different manual than I did. Do I understand you correctly that you walked WITHOUT using your crutches the entire 6 mile journey to have your staples pulled? And if so, why? Especially if you had bone grafts. Maybe I read your post wrong and you walked with crutches the whole way. Please clarify so I know just how big a sissy I really am. C+ DR. Guest guest
Hey Chris. When I said I walked with the crutches under my arm the entire way, I meant I was using them and doing my best to only be 50% weight bearing on the operated leg. If I maintain 50% weight bearing I can walk as far as I want. Is this correct? I will have to admit it sure felt good to make the mistake of putting all my weight on the operated leg and not feel my bones grind together. I am going to do my best to play by the rules, but I feel great. About the Coumadin, good advice from those out there and I will just be quiet and take my medicine. Mark, thanks for the medical perspective. Steve, next time be more blunt, I respond well to direct so don't beat around the bush. I am going to wash it down with a great bottle of wine I recently acquired this evening. Stop typing, I am just kidding...I will be patient and wait the 20 days, 4 hours, six minutes and 27 seconds before I consider doing that..... Hope you are feeling well. ...Dr. Amstutz 5/04/04 > What part of walking 3 miles to the hospital with your crutches > tucked under your arm is following JRI's rules?
