Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear this news from you, Tom! I don't have any experience that would help you. I believe you might benefit from an evaluation by a physical therapist though. I think they are the specialty that deals with this type of thing. I know if I am wrong someone here will certainly say so! lolPlease know you are in my prayers--always.hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Hi Tom,..I’m sorry you are having these problems. It’s hard to get use to a new one, as it just seems to compound everything else. I have a couple suggestions I hope will be useful. First I’d Google pressure sores prevention. You may have already done this, but I’ve checked out the info just in case I needed cushions too. I liked what I read about gel cushions but I have never used one so I can’t say how they work. I had a guy over who helped me with my seat for my power chair and he recommended air cushions over gels. So that’s what I have for my seat. You have to play around with it some to get the right amount of air, but he said the gels move around too much and leave gaps in the support. I don’t spend enough time in my chair to see if there would be any problems, but when I do use it its very comfy and gives good support.I don’t know what Roho is? Another thing was when my grandma was confined to bed they put a sheep skin pad under her to prevent bedsores. It worked. You might ask an occupational therapist about it. Do you know why you can’t lay flat anymore? I can only lay on my back flat. I probably wasn’t too much help, but I’d be interested in hearing what you come up with. Guest guest
Hello Tom, The memory foam pillows seem to work great. Are cushions are good. I know that fleece is popular too. With fleece, you really have to watch the fibers. Most fleece used in nursing homes is synthetic. In itself, synthetic fleece is not bad; but, the fibers tend to clump together after a while and no amount of washing will unclump them. Then they can lead to pressure soars if used for extended periods. Good luck with finding something that works for you.Donna in WASubject: SEEKING ADVICETo: "Josie Byzek" , "donna chopyak" , "chris ratliff" , "carol belluccio" , "Crystal Nason" , "" Date: Tuesday, October 4, 2011, 12:20 AM I am 69, diagnosed in 1984....in a power chair for last 7 years.
