Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, Good to hear from you. I'm doing very well, went working half days last week. Like mentioned a lot on this site I think the recovering phase is very individual. I am walking without crutches and only on very long walks with a stick. I have to admit the drive to leave the crutches behind me had also to do with the pain in my wrist because of the crutches. The 15th of July I have my check-up and I really hope I'm doing fine, although I think You'd know when there is something wrong.. I still have some mental fears to totally stand on the leg, also the right way of walking is more a matter of breaking some psychic barriers than the physical boundaries. I feel like I'm making this huge spelling errors, but you'll forgive me right? The thing that makes me worried is the pain in my other hip, it feels a lot like how it all started about four years ago with the operated one. I honoustly hope it is due to fact I'm giving the good hip to much weight while I still want to be nice for the operated one. I am certainly going to ask dr. De Smet his opinion about the other hip. Like you I'm still longing for a good night of sleep, I stopped with the painkillers so it is getting better and I am able to sleep on the side for like an hour (the non- operated)...heaven! I'm not sure if it is because of not sleeping through the night, but I'm still very tired and if I'd give in I could still sleep for 12 hours per day. Unfortunately I had to start working. In an attemp to invest in my quality of sleeping I was out to look for a new mattres. That was rather interesting. I walked in a shop with a stick and was tolled about a certain specification mattres the price was X. Being a purchaser in my professional life I went to another shop and asked for the price of that same mattres...it was X - 350 Euro's! Thant can't be just margin. I think disabled people are in a huge disadvantaged position...well I get a bit tired of this bed story. Good luck the coming weeks, Mijke (I'll start swimming this week, have you allready done some other physical training to get back in condition) Mijke de Schutter LBHR 02/06/04 DeSmet ----Original Message Follows---- Hi Mijke, I was wondering how you were getting on? As we were resurfed on the same day it's nice to compare. Like you I am finding sleeping difficult. Are you on one or two crutches? I am on one round the house but still need two for longer walks.
