Guest guest Posted January 3, 2002 Report Share Posted January 3, 2002 Program Assistant The North Carolina Farmworkers Project (FWP) seeks a Program Assistant to work with the Casa a Campo program. FWP is a community-based non profit organization that works with farmworkers to create the resources and voice they need to address and take collective action against social injustice. Casa a Campo is a partnership between Wake Forest University Department of Family and Community Medicine, Student Action with Farmworkers, and FWP to conduct research on farmworker pesticide exposure, develop materials and information about pesticide safety, and recruit and train lay health educators. The Program Assistant will: Recruit farmworkers and health care providers to participate in an Advisory Committee for Casa a Campo; Plan community forums for farmworkers to provide input into the project; Assist with qualitative research on farmworker pesticide exposure; Help to design educational materials and interventions; Assist with training of lay health advocates; Help to supervise college student interns from farmworker families; Work with staff and volunteers of FWP on other programs and activities as needed. The Program Assistant must be able to speak and write in Spanish (bilingual Spanish/English preferred). Experience working in farmwork is a plus.
