Guest guest
Hi , There are lots of us in Canada. Besides the Montreal group, there are a couple of Ontario surgeon doing resurfs, one or two in Alberta and five in Vancouver - including my doc and his 3 colleagues in the reconstructive orthopedics dept at Vancouver General. One of the local guys has been doing them for two years and has done scores of them. I've read about Dr. in the paper - the article made it sound like it's never been done before in Canada. Sometimes reporters just don't do their homework (I know... I'm a journalist). The various Canadian docs use a variety of resurf prosthetics: mostly Birmingham out your way, Durom at VGH. They're all very similar technology/metallurgy as far as I know. As everyone on this site will verify, results are almost uniformly excellent - though some people bounce back faster than others, depending on condition of bones, general fitness level, etc. At 3 months post-op, I have no pain and almost full strength back on operated side... a long way to go on range of motion, but it's not slowing me down much. We're the lucky ones! a R-Durom / VGH / 17.02.04 > I am going in for a resurface job at the Jewish general > with Dr. . I have talked with someone who had it done. Guest guest
-- Thanks for the update a. The newspaper articles did make it sound like it is the first time in Canada. Like most of us, this resurf is the way to go. If something doesn " t work out you still have the option to go for a full hip job. It sounds like you are doing pretty good. I am sure with phsio you will get your range back. I can only walk one block and then the pain sets in.I have a hard time lifting my leg over anything.I am sure after I have it done,I will have to stretch those muscles out that haven " t worked for a long time. in Montreal. - In surfacehippy , " talltree992003 " wrote: > Hi , > There are lots of us in Canada.
