Hiya folks

Well I just got back from birmingham today having been all

resurfaced last tuesday morning and guess what...it wasn't nearly as

bad as I thought it would be!!

No bone pain since thursday - all that's sore now is tight muscles

and my 10 inch incision criss-crossed with staples - my boyfriend

says my ass looks like frankenstein's monster.

What a relief - I really had forgotten what this felt like - no

grinding or clunking anymore. My body can start to heal itself and

hopefully balance up again! I've been walking so badly for so long

that it's gonna take a lot of effort. Mr Treacy says crutches and no

work for 6 weeks which I am of course going to abide by - but to be

honest, apart from being tired, I feel great. I take a couple of

paracetamols every now and again, and asprin to thin y blood every

day but nothing else. THis is a big reduction for my - pre-op I was

on an awful lot of anti-inflammatories!!

I caught the plane home to Glasgow today and all went fine. I'm

pretty shattered at the moment. I'm just going to go for a snooze

but I thought I'd post a wee message for you all.

THanks so much to everyone who answered my panicky pre-op posts! You

all helped an awful lot!!

Thanks also to all those who answered my initial posts around 6

months ago. I'd had some very biased advice from a THR specialist

and I feel SO LUCKY that I happened upon this site 3 WEEKS before I

was due to go in for my THR.

Anyway I am now a bionic woman and I have the X rays to prove it!

I'm sure I'll have a good few more anxious posts for all you hippies

before I'm really better. But for now THanks again all.

Luv Mo

Congratulations Mo!

Glad it all went well. Its amazing isn't it - my experience in

hospital wasnt as bad as i expected it to be either - nor the pain

or need for drugs. I'm 3 and a half weeks post now and the tiredness

is still there, but to be honest I'm making the most of it and

catching up on years of missed sleep. Lying on your back soon gets

easier, and after about 2 weeks I was able to lie on my affected

side whihc helped too.

Keep us posted with your progress.

All the best,

Jen
