Guest guest
Stacey, EMG's are NOT really painful, while there are needles inserted, it is no more painful than any simple needle (such as a shot). I had this done in my arms and legs only about 2 weeks ago, I also had an EEG and I have had the nerve conductions done to (and think there were more painful due to the electrical shock feeling but only temporary). After the EMG I left and went shopping and have NO problems at all, it is just the imediate pain as the needle is inserted, so don't worry to much OK. Stay well and look after that wrist. Hope the family stuff settles down soon and that you sort out your personal stuff as well. Guest guest
No I didn't get or need anything. I could do everything I could normally do as soon as the needeles were removed (I couldn't while they were in simple beacuse they were teathered to the macine). I didn't find it painful a little uncomfortable but that is all. It didn't interfere with anything at all after. As long as you don't have bad bleededing issues or something (I do tend to bleed a little after but it settled easily and quickly) as I said it is no worse than getting a couple of shots and I have never had a shot or blood test affect me for anytime after (if I do it is because of what is injected and NOT due to simply having a shot). I must say I had this done in my RSD arm/shoulder as well and I still didn't have any problems or pain issues. Good Luck if you are concerned about possibly needing time off after I would tell your boss that you are going to have a test done and you should be back straight away and if there are any complications you will ring and let them know. This is the best I can do as we are ALL different. I was worried before it as to how painful it could be etc etc and the first site I didn't even feel.
