Guest guest
DSHS Proposed Budget Reductions for FY 2012-13 Biennium The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) held a public meeting on July 6, 2010, to solicit input from stakeholders regarding budget reductions to be submitted as part of the agency's 2012-2013 Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR), the budget request for the next two years. As the basis for the 2012-2013 LAR, state agencies were asked to submit a budget request that is 5 percent lower than the amount appropriated to them for the current biennium. Agencies also must provide options to decrease budgets an additional 10 percent. The good news is that DSHS is not recommending a full reduction of $10 million in trauma funds distributed. The bad news is that they are still recommending a reduction of $5 million in trauma funds distributed. This is all based on the assumption that distributions will be appropriated on the same current level, even though additional dollars continue to collect into the Designated Trauma Facility and EMS Account. The DSHS budget presentation is attached for your review. The Legislative Appropriations Request is due to the Legislative Budget Board in August. DINAH S.
