Guest guest
It would be very interesting if you can find out why your doctors have switched. Their priorities may not be the same as yours (cost, supply logistics, etc.). As a patient I would not want to be a guinea pig when there is a very acceptable alternative. I am NOT suggesting that there is anything wrong with the Durom, but as you point out, the experience on this board suggests it has not been used nearly as much as the others. Guest guest
Hi a, who posts on this board occasionally, had a Durom hip resurf by Dr. Masri in Vancouver in February. She is doing really well, and seems happy with it. I understand that the reason the doctors say they are switching is because Zimmer has a huge line of components that make replacing one part or the other easier in the future if necessary. We also suspect that perhaps Zimmer is doing a study of some sort in Vancouver, but we don't really know any details. Keep an eye on your bone density if you are on a 1-1.5 year weight list. Get your GP to order a proper bone scan of your hip (with a copy to Dr. Garbuz as well), and if your density is getting below the acceptable range, maybe you can be moved ahead in the list. Hope that helps, n rBHR Oct.2003 McMinn > I have read many posts re the BHR, Corin, , and C+ but none > about the Durom.
Guest guest
Thanks n. I will get that bone scan and send it to Dr. Garbuz.
