My best friend Diane tells me the same thing but I always think she's just trying to talk me into things:) lol What was the prep the first time?hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. I've had a few colonoscopies, and Sharon, there is no reason to avoid them other than the prep - but different doctors do the prep differently. My first colonoscopy I didn't have the standard prep, and I had a lot of problems with it, but my second colonoscopy I had the standard prep and that worked out much better for me. The procedure itself is a breeze - they knock you out, so you don't know anything.

..Wow, maybe that's our 'whitecoat fear' solution Sharon. Be seen by a PA rather than a dr! My lower back pain is still here as always but it's probably lesions on my spine. And no, I won't go for an MRI.

I didn't realize you weren't getting regular mammos so now I'll start nagging you. I have never felt any pain with them. But a colonoscopy would scare the bejeezus out of me! It's never been suggested that I have one but that's par for the course with drs up here. You'll do fine :) ... hugs, Cait

doctor appt today

I was so bummed out when I got there because they said my doc wasn't there! Turns out she was air flighted to Phoenix for emergency back surgery yesterday. They said they brought in a PA from sdale to see Dr. J's patients for the next few months. I almost walked out but I decided to stay. I was seen first my a medical student from the U.of A. med school. She was great and seemed excited to get to do a neuro exam:) lol The PA wants me to have a chest xray because of my chronic cough. She also wants to have xrays on my lower back due to the pain I'm having. She feels stumped by the pain and soreness I described because her exam showed no reason for it that she could identify. She also will refer me for a mammogram. And the biggie for me is she wants me to have a colonscopy! I have refused to have one before because I'm a huge wimp. But I guess I will follow through this time. The lower back pain is getting pretty bad for me. Something is wrong. I have made a habit of refusing medical tests over the years. Right or wrong --that's the way I am. I hope it wasn't a mistake to refuse all these years, you know? Before my appointment I went to Walmart for my monthly shopping trip. I had my hair cut at the salon when I first got there so now I feel human again. lol hugs to each

The prep the first time, I don't think they are using anymore - truthfully, I think I saw it on one of those attorney attack ads as having caused some something or other.  But it involved a lot more drinking than the regular prep does - which was my downfall - I drink too much, I get sick, so it coming out the north end, so to speak, didn't do it's job on the south end.  I had to call my doc at 5 am and tell him I threw it up what do I do?  (Because I had to drink it and a bunch of water the night before, and it and a bunch of water the morning of.)  It really was painless, though, the procedure, and I had no after affects.

Truthfully, if your doctor is recommending it, you really should.  Not just as a screening for colon cancer, but if you are having other " issues " .Tina

After hearing from you (and others) that it really was okay and painless I think I may agree to have it done:)
