n - did you have colonoscopies or sigmoidoscopies?  I know for the sigmoid you have to be awake, as they need you to move.  Around here, for colonoscopies they always tranquilize you.  I woke up in the middle of one (so did my husband).  We both hallucinated that the thermostat in the room was on fire.  (the doc had given us versed and something else, so it didn't knock us out completely evidently).  Of course, my husband actually hallucinated a little man on the wall, too.  I laughed so hard when he told me about that!  My other colonoscopies have been at , and with a different doc, and they made sure I was way, way out.

I have had over 30 colonoscopies (due to cystic fibrosis) and was never tranquilized,nor anaesthatized.  Fell asleep during one of them.  The " prep " apparently took care of

the problem, of as one of my brothers put it, " That submarine is not getting throughthat Panama Canal. "   Needed a bit of help!  Better to have it done than not--can avoidso many problems, " down the line, " as my brother put it!

..Wow, maybe that's our 'whitecoat fear' solution Sharon. Be seen by a PA rather than a dr! My lower back pain is still here as always but it's probably lesions on my spine. And no, I won't go for an MRI.

I didn't realize you weren't getting regular mammos so now I'll start nagging you. I have never felt any pain with them. But a colonoscopy would scare the bejeezus out of me! It's never been suggested that I have one but that's par for the course with drs up here. You'll do fine ... hugs, Cait

doctor appt today

I was so bummed out when I got there because they said my doc wasn't there! Turns out she was air flighted to Phoenix for emergency back surgery yesterday. They said they brought in a PA from sdale to see Dr. J's patients for the next few months. I almost walked out but I decided to stay. I was seen first my a medical student from the U.of A. med school. She was great and seemed excited to get to do a neuro exam:) lol The PA wants me to have a chest xray because of my chronic cough. She also wants to have xrays on my lower back due to the pain I'm having. She feels stumped by the pain and soreness I described because her exam showed no reason for it that she could identify. She also will refer me for a mammogram. And the biggie for me is she wants me to have a colonscopy! I have refused to have one before because I'm a huge wimp. But I guess I will follow through this time. The lower back pain is getting pretty bad for me. Something is wrong. I have made a habit of refusing medical tests over the years. Right or wrong --that's the way I am. I hope it wasn't a mistake to refuse all these years, you know? Before my appointment I went to Walmart for my monthly shopping trip. I had my hair cut at the salon when I first got there so now I feel human again. lol hugs to each

I have had both, with no tranquilizer, no sedation, and no discomfort. They told me torelax, and I did. Worked well. I also had endoscopies.Good luck to you,n
