Wes,

4 -6 weeks is the standard.it's been that way for years. Some just get more

lucky than others.

Late October would still be in that time frame.

But has anyone noticed a bit of a lag in processing EMS certifications

lately? I know several people who passed their NR and/or renewed lately and

at least some of those applications were sent in late October.

When talking to new basics and medics, I've definitely noted that I didn't

remember my certification taking that long to process. I still think that for

everything they do, Texas is certifying people at a good rate, and haven't heard

of anything outrageous, but either my memory is failing me or there's a bit more

time required to certify.

I wonder if it's because of the FAST stuff they have to do now.

Wes,

I would think you are right in your thinking. I just renewed and it took almost

three months to post and I still do not have a paper copy. I would be happy with

4-6 weeks not 4-6 months.

Yes sir, as one who is waiting on my paperwork to be completed. I have tried

calling them and all I can be told is that it is taking the full 6 weeks and

they can't see my applictaion yet, even though I did it online and has to be

able to be seen on their computers. I talked to them at the conference and they

were working on applications from the 12th of Oct but most of the office was out

at the conference. I have been told by some, after I did my application, that

the online method is actually taking longer than the traditional paper

application. And with the holidays and everything, I am not expecting mine to

come in til after the beginning of the year. And we can't check the website

cause their new system isn't working properly with it, so actually have to wait

for it to come in to know and/or start working.

And the FAST background isn't adding that much more time, if any to the process.

Cause I didn't have to go through it again since I am moving up a level.

However I do know that they can pull applications and push them through if they

want, cause I have some friends who have been able to get it done. This includes

one friend who was able to call the same day his registry came through, in

September, and had it showing on the state's website by 5pm that day.

The only good thing I can think of about Arizona EMS is that if you carry your

application to the regional office, they'll hand you your card 10 minutes later.

And it's a nice plastic card, not a piece of paper. Same way with drivers

licenses. Hand in your application, step to the camera area, wait 5 minutes and

your DL is in your hand.

Why can't TX do this?

Gene are you saying Texas isn't best at something? I've never heard a TEXAN

admit that.
