Good luck tomorrow!!! Does your daughter know self hypnosis??? Or do you? Maybe

hypnotize her for the procedure to block the pain?

Dental Numbing

My daughter is having two baby teeth extracted on Tues. Novacaine

administered normally does part of the job - but she still feels

pain.

Last month when she had two teeth extracted the dentist did an

intraligament injection - this hurt some while it was being

administered, although he numbed the area some first with topical and

other injections. She had more pain in the jaw/mouth the next

several days than with previous extractions.

The doctor is now recommending Septocaine (and the rest of this I'm

not positive about) injected into the nerve at the back of the jaw.

Anybody know anything about this? I'm going to speak with the

dentist tomorrow afternoon to go over her care and want to be as

knowledgable as possible about this. When we went for the last

extraction he didn't believe me about the hereditary non-deadening

problem with EDS until I showed him the report - then he read it and

believed me - with that in mind, I definitely want to go prepared -

paper in hand.

She will have nitrous oxide to help her relax but I refuse to give

her the other narcotics. The dentist strongly recommends it - but I

think mostly because of the aspect of behavior control of the

patient. My daughter sits very well, tolerates pain fine and doesn't

need narcotics if they aren't absolutely necessary! She also has

POTS - and that's just one more reason to steer clear of unnecessary

sedation.

I already have the 4 files on dental aspects from Jill. Any

thoughts, info and experience on dental numbing is much appreciated.

Thanks.

LOL - Hypnosis hadn't crossed my mind - but I've given some thought

to acupuncture - maybe I'll have learn how to do that next.
