Guest guest
I have a nook color (barnes and noble), and I love it. I started out with the original nook when it first came out, and just last week upgraded to the color - the battery life isn't much longer that the original nook (whereas the new nook battery life can last up to 2 months), but if I don't feel well, and hubby is asleep, since the color is backlit I can read in bed without bothering him. I guess yesterday was the first day I really put the battery life to the test, since I spent about 8 hours straight reading it, plus what I had done earlier in the day. I currently have about 300 books on my nook, and plenty of space left. My old nook we are going to hand over to the kids to share (as soon as we get an e-mail address set up for it, my oldest has a book he wants to order for it already, because it's back ordered in the actual store). And changing the font is a great thing. I don't have many eye problems, but sometimes the font is a little too small, so you can switch it out for " medium " or " large font " . There are some books that I will always - at least as long as possible - get in book form, like most reference books, cookbooks, etc. But getting this e-reader was one of the best decisions I could have made. Tina I love 's books too. I've got a reserve on Now You See Her and Worst Case. I think those two are his latest. I also love Kathy Reichs 'Bones' series even tho I rarely watched Bones on TV. Oh and Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series. Right now I was reading Mommy's Little Girl but after the verdict, I don't feel like finishing it. It's sad but the way of paper books is heading to a slow end. I think I'm going to soon break down and buy an ereader. I saw my neighbor's Kindle (not for sale in Canada) and I loved the way you could change the word size. I was happily surprised. Anyone have one and pros/cons? ... hugs, Cait NEW MEMBER -- " bic_gram " Comment from new member " bic_gram " :Diagnosed in 2003. Guest guest
Thanks for the info on the Nook Tina. I had wondered if the back light would cause eyestrain. As for books, I've got so many and it's sad that they're basically worthless. Over 50 cookbooks have been in a 'yard sale' pile down 's basement for almost 2 years so clearly I don't need them. Reference type ... same thing, I run to a computer! Hmm, I do have a birthday next month ... hugs, Cait NEW MEMBER --"bic_gram" Comment from new member "bic_gram":Diagnosed in 2003. Guest guest
I find the backlight beneficial so far, the original nook didn't have the backlight, and I'm not sure about the " new " nook either. I do know that you can borrow e-books from the library with the nook, as the nook reads more formats - e-pub, pdf files, etc. The " new " nook is about $100 cheaper than the nook color - because the nook color has more bells and whistles - apps like on a cell phone, you can check e-mail from it, and other things. The main reference books I'm talking about are things like books on MS - sometimes it's easier for me to leaf through the pages of a book, looking for something specific.
