Guest guest
From: Leigh Anne Bedrich Re: Ambulance Staging Manager Course To: All EMS Personnel Action: Identify and Enroll Appropriate Personnel for ASM Course Due Date: ASAP All- There are still plenty of slots available for the ASM course in Arlington on June 16 & 17; the classroom activities are scheduled at the Arlington Hilton in the " entertainment district " and the field exercises will be at one of the local large stadium parking lots on day 2. However enrollment is minimal at this point and we are at risk of having this course cancelled if this isn't increased early this week. Please forward this to all appropriate personnel and let's try to boost the enrollment in this class to ensure it is held. The flyer is attached. This course is free and travel, lodging and an $18.00 per diem (breakfast, lunch & snack will be served at the course) are also eligible for reimbursement, so the only cost to your organization might be duty and possibly backfill time. If you have any questions, please contact Regan at STRAC ( regan@... regan@...> ) or me. The original email and more contact information for STRAC is located below. We want to fill these classes so that we will have the opportunity to host other state funded classes in the future. Thanks for whatever you can do to get the word out. Leigh Anne Bedrich, LP, MA, EFO Emergency Healthcare Systems Program Manager NCTTRAC The Department of Health Services has approved funding for two Ambulance Staging Manager Courses and one Medical Incident Support Team Course to be conducted in preparation for Hurricane Season 2010. Courses will be coordinated by the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (TSA-P), in partnership with Southeast Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (TSA-Q) and North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (TSA-E). The Ambulance Staging Manager Course provides participants with the knowledge and tools to design, establish and operate an ambulance staging area of any size, including forward staging operations during an emergency response. Integration with the incident command system, the DSHS MACC and the local medical operations center will be discussed. A comprehensive practical exercise will allow participants to employ operational, planning and logistical concepts learned in the course. The ASM Course is targeted at EMS and Fire Officers, with incident response experience and training in incident command systems (ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700 and ICS-300). The Ambulance Staging Manager Course will be 16 hours over two days, and will include lectures from personnel with experience running an Ambulance Staging Area during a large disaster response. One Ambulance Staging Manager Course will be conducted on June 16-17 in Arlington, TX. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED FLYERS FOR MORE INFORMATION OR TO REGISTER FOR THE COURSES.
