Lots of health authorities doing resurfacing in the uk nowadays.

Will depend on where you live as to how long you'll have to wait

though.

I was lucky. My local hospital is all for it (middlesbrough).

You could check on the BHR manufacturers site www.midmedtec.co. They

have a list i think.

I got both of mine done in thirties so that should'nt be an issue.

Good luck and hope you get sorted soon.

Right BHR May 2001.

Left BHR November 2001.

Left revision(dislocated)December 2001.

Hey there...not sure of your name! I can't help w/ insurance Qs, but

I can tell you that I'm 37 and have had OA since I was mid/late

teens...and we ARE young! I just wanted to tell you quick that

you're in the right place - you do your homework, look into it, and

I'm sure you'll get some of the Brit hippies' responses soon!

GOOD LUCK!

Dear ,

I live in the UK and have had resurfacing, though am not as young as

you. Having said that, there is no reason the procedure should be any

different. All you need to do is to go to your GP, tell her/him that

you are interested in this procedure and ask to be referred to a

orthopaedic surgeon that does this. Who this is, depends on where you

live. Lots of OS's do resurfacing in the UK, as it was developed here

initially. You then WAIT for a referral, see the OS, and if they say

to go ahead, WAIT again for an op that eventually does come through.

Or, you go privately. In my case, I only waited two months for my op on

the NHS, as I got a cancellation, but waited quite a long time for the

original appointment. However, I wasn't in great distress as some are,

so could be patient.

Good luck,

Eleanor

Hi

I'm 31 and have just had my resurfaced hip revised due to a problem I

had, the surgeon that did my BHR resurfacing and the revision does them

on the NHS in Tunbridge Wells Kent UK.

I feel he's a great surgeon and has looked after me well.

Your gp should be able to look into and refer you to a NHS surgeon who

carries out the procedure near you.

Good luck

,

Could I ask what problems you had with the resurfacing? I am considering

having both hips done and am very interested in everyone's experience both good

and bad.

Thank you,

researching
