One thing that I think we've lost as a society is the ability to see the other

point of view.

A few decades ago I was in a debate club a common exercise was to write out a

position on one side of an argument but then at the last minute the teacher

would make you take the other side in the live debate. If prepared you did well

if not you sunk.

I think that's where I picked up my passion for playing the Devil's Advocate in

the public safety world.

I guess I should be flattered to have become the object of the most discussion

here. But I am sad because so much of it has been personal rather than

intellectual.

Let's examine the issue. Let's think critically. Let's forget our emotions.

Let's not think that because we're friends we must agree.

Helo EMS is a subject for much discussion. The stakes are enormous. Please,

let us discuss the pros and cons without emotion.

and just as important, it's important that we *all* go home at the end of

the day. There is nothing more sad than to lose rescuers through problems

that should have been anticipated and avoided.
