CPR etc

Got back from the MD's office a few minutes ago. He wrote a very nice

letter, on clinic letterhead. We had a long talk about the work/CPR

situation, my increased pain levels/stress levels, etc. He then typed up

the letter (after thinking how to word it properly). Faxed it to the office

and got a call from the rehab coordinator. She thinks it will do the trick

now.

Here's what the MD wrote for me:

This letter supercedes all previous letters on this topic (Bonnie's ability

assimilate the skills necessary to perform CPR; and her ability to be

certified in CPR as a requirement of her employment). It is my professional

opnion that Bonnie will tolerate the rigors of a half-day CPR training

course, and, if called upon to perform CPR in the course of her employment

(unlikely thought the need will be, given the setting she works in) perform

CPR satisfactorily. I would not clear Bonnie to perform CPR on a frequent

basis as an integral part of employment (eg it would be inappropriate for

Bonnie to work in an Emergency Dept setting where CPR were expected of her

several times per week). This determination is being made as a result of her

having Ehlers Danlos Syndrome superimposed on Fibromyalgia Syndrome.

~~~~~~
So, there we have it. I will hear back from my place of employment
tomorrow - early, hopefully, as the class is tomorrow afternoon and I see my
patient tomorrow, too.
LOL at the last line about EDS being superimposed on Fibro...shouldn't that
be the other way around or am I miss reading it?
Thanks for the support today! I really needed it!
Re: CPR etc
Guess its still a question in the medical world of cart-before-the-horse?
Which gave rise to which, what is the condition & what did it cause? I'm
betting the EDS genetics predispose one to Fibro as a result....but I could be
proven wrong someday!
I knew a physiatrist who worked with fibro patients and TMJ. When I was dx'd
with EDS I asked him how many of his patients were hypermobile...his response?
Quite a few! Did he want to learn more about EDS??? No :( Did he make the
connection about fibro and EDS? NO ;(((( His wife and kids were very
hypermobile, the wife had fibro and RSD really bad but when I told him about EDS
and did he ever think about checking his wife for it? His response? She doesn't
need any more diagnoses!
