Guest guest
Well, I've finally got everything together and I'm scheduled for a BHR this Thursday! The BHR is still quite rare in Sweden so I'm very pleased that I've been able to get this in motion. I was scheduled for a THR in November last fall. Two days before my operation I cancelled it after getting info on the BHR. Geez that was a close call! Anyway, after long grief and pain I'm finally going to take the plunge. I'm 48 and have actually been dragging on with this far too long. Two years back they did a " shave " , that is they cleaned out the joint from osteophyts, put on some cortison and drilled a drainage hole. It only lasted two years. The only thing now is that I'm starting to have problems with my lefty (BHR is for my right hip). So I'm wondering, how many bilaterals are there out there? And how does it work? The BHR is being done at Huddinge in the Stockholm area in Sweden and the surgeon, Håkan Hedlund, is reputably a good one. There are only 4 hospitals in Sweden doing the BHR at the moment, and only six surgeons. Good thing, it's covered by the public medical health care insurance. I'll let you know how things are progressing. Admittedly, I'm a bit, how shall put it, not nervous, maybe a little apprehensive, after all, I know what I have, but not what I'll get... Cheers all /Bogi :-)
