Guest guest
This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, etc. I took celebrex for one month and mobic for 5 months, and tho the pain might have been less, I believe I went downhill more rapidly, in retrospect. My left knee started taking the brunt from the hip, so to speak. When I finally got an xray the cartilege in rt hip was gone. I started reading this board and discovered there is a controversy regarding these drugs, and I stopped taking them. I went on crutches and stuck to tylenol and tylenol plus codeine, or Vicodin. Dr. DeSmet says, and I have read this elsewhere, that these drugs wear away at the bone, make it softer. So the drug may help the symptoms and worsen the cause. When I had the surgery he said my bone was soft. Hopefully with weight bearing exercise that has improved. I'm sure 3 months of crutches hadn't helped that either, tho I was exercising on stationary bike up to the end, I didn't put much weight on the poor hip.
