Is there any reason to get a Bone Density scan before resurfacing?

I have AVN and OA on one side only. I was wondering if it would be

useful to see how the density is in my femoral neck. Might this be an

indicator of how good the bone stock is? Will it give me any sense of

how likely or unlikely I am to have the resurfacing " fail " ?

I'm probably going to have a bone density done on my good side as a

peri-menopausal baseline. I was thinking of having one done

bilaterally to compare. Does anyone have experience or info about this?
