It gave me double vision. I had this reaction previously but not as bad. It has worn off not and I am back on the Internet :-D. I got some good news about my late husband. I heard from an online VA person or representative. I had sent two emails out in frustration last week. Well, I got an answer. Seems there is a program called DIC where I can get something from the government if Bill died of Lung cancer and was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Well, he was there in Vietnam and all I need is the death certificate. What is weird his dead certificate says he died of " natural causes? " That is weird??? Since when is Lung Cancer natural causes? I need to get this changed!! I am just amazed that Bill did not know this. But his PTSD was so bad I suppose nothing was ever done. So, once I confirm that this online VA help is legit .... things look good since I cannot get out to them. :-D Caro.
Guest guest
Hi Caro, Good to hear you are doing better! I just felt for commenting on one thing you wrote, about Bills death certificate. I can understand that you don't feel that Bills Lung Cancer is a " Natural Cause " (it will never feel " Natural " but downright " Unfair " , " Tragic " and " Horrible " to lose a loved one), but then again they are talking about the Cause of Death, in an " objective way, from a medical point of view " which of course must be quite bad since it actually caused a person to die... So then you can turn it a bit around, and say that when a person after all died, it is quite " Natural " that Lung Cancer caused it. I think that they by " Natural Causes " mean that illness (as e.g. cancer) is natural as opposed to e.g. somebody being a victim of homocide, appearant injury, trauma, poisoning or something like that... It is after all not that unnatural to die when you get an awful, terminal illness. If you apply for a copy of somebody's death certificate, they ask about the cause of death and have these categories to choose from: Violently, Accidently, Suddenly, Natural Causes. If you were to fill in that, you would have to choose " Natural Causes " , by that meaning " Terminal Illness/Lung Cancer " (which is of course quite common, so they mean by " Natural " that it is not " Unexplained " or " Unnatural " as in violence, accidents or other forms of sudden death, which has to be reported to the Coroner. I hope this sheds a bit of light on this. I think that maybe you at least should look into this by just asking your doctor (who have knowledge about writing such death certificates) before you use any of your precious energy on getting it changed. By doing a quick web search for " natural causes death certificate " , I did find some documents which, as I see it, suggest that what I say above, is correct. I have pasted some below my sig line. If you want more documentation, go to Google and type in what I mentioned above. I can however mention that several of these documents do suggest that they use more distinct causes than such generic terms as e.g. " natural causes " , but it seems to me like it still is very common to do this, but I don't know if you could get it changed. I would guess that you have some documentation that states that he had terminal lung cancer, and by also providing that in addition to the death certificate, his precise cause of death should be quite apparent to those that need that information. Take care! Aase Marit The death certificate copy application form which I referred to above: http://www.rgd.gov.jm/Online%20Applications/death%20certificate%20online%20appli\ cation%20form.htm A document about death certificates for the elderly, with examples of how it should be done to be more clear: http://www.doh.wa.gov/ehsphl/chs/chs-data/Public/Elderly.pdf From some project: Ensuring That Natural Causes Are Evident The Problem Some cause of death statements -- even in conjunction with the format for indicating the manner of death -- may not make it clear whether death resulted from natural causes or from external conditions (such as injury or poisoning). The Remedy The solution is to write a well-designed cause of death statement to make it clear that the death is not due to external conditions, but is, instead, due to natural causes. >In a message dated 6/27/2004 3:27:25 AM Eastern Daylight Time, tabby2@... >writes: > > >> ALways know you are in our thoughts & prayers. >> BEtty >> > >Thanks Betty, > >Well, I discovered my Norvasc medication I took on the 25th made my >depression really bad.
