Guest guest
, Wow, your weight loss is terrific!!! I have not lost anything in the last few days and although I know I will, I liked when I weighed(yes I'm one of them who must weigh myself everyday)myself and had weight loss daily. Anyway, also, congrats on working out I know I have to but by the time I get all these kiddies taken care of I am exhausted. Can chasing after two yr. twins count as my formal exersize:) ? Bye for now Jen 5/24/00 25 lbs lost

Guest guest
I want to say thanks for all of you that have shared my enthusiasm over my weight loss. I just cannot believe it myself, and am glad if it encourages other post ops. I do have to say though, I have NOT stayed on strictly liquids. I'm a bit of a rebel (ask Trish) and one of the absolute worst things someone can say to me is " you CAN'T have that " . I immediately want it, and will obsess on it until I get it. sounds exactly like me, if I want something, I have it. A few bites will do it for me. Let's see, a rundown of stuff I have tried... Pizza, manicotti, salad, pickles, hamburger, chicken fingers, chicken salad, buffalo wings, french fries, chocolate, peanuts, icecream, birthday cake, I think that's about it on the 'bad' list. But the amounts that satisfied me is what is amazing. 4 french fries, one chicken finger, 2 buffalo wings, 1/2 a slice of pizza, one bite of chocolate. You get the idea. And I also do not eat every day, usually if I have an eating day, I still tend to feel full the next day (sounds impossible, that could be in my head), and will usually only have liquids. One of my favorite treats is frozen apple juice. To me, these are better than any juice bar i have bought, because the apple juice seems to crystalize and make it kinda crunchy and really sweet and good. Cucumber slices dipped in salad dressing, and a little salt are also a new fave. they just taste so crispy and crunchy and clean. Neither of these would have been choices for me before, I think i like them because they quench my thirst. Not drinking with your meals also tends to make alot of what I used to eat not as palatable as before. The french fries made my mouth feel greasy, and that taste stays with you and is not pleasant. So, these are my experiences with food. I have not barfed or had any problems with loose stools. Actually, aside from my IV site, I can say I have been pretty much problem free. And I am so lacking in willpower, this all amazes me. I wish all of you pre-ops luck, and please feel free to ask me anything. in NJ MGB 6-1-00 298/

Guest guest
Hello all, Yesterday my GP sent me to a pain management doctor. This doctor prescribed me some Lidoderm(lidocaine) patches that soak into your skin on the areas that hurt the worst and help with the pain. So far, they seem to work a little, but they cost me $50.00 for 30 patches. That is with my insurance. Also, he set me up with physical therapy to do 2 times a week for three weeks to teach me flexibility exercises that I have to continue after these sessions. He also told me to eat more fruits and vegetables and on my next visit he would give me a more complete diet to change to. He said the vegetarian diet does seem to help around 5% of fibro patients. So it wouldn't hurt for me to see if this helps me as well. We'll see. I'll let ya'll know of any good things I learn from these two new doctors I'm seeing. My sister, who has RA and has recently been diagnosed with fibro as well, has already told me once I learn these exercises to show her how to do them as well. Hope everyone is having a great day, a Faye

Guest guest
Hello a, I am impressed! To have a doctor who knows what a veggie diet can do for us FMS/CFS patients is a rareity. Most doctors never suggest a diet change. I do believe, however, that your doctor is wrong on the percentages. A vegan diet helps a lot more than 5%. I have been on a vegan diet for 7 months now, and for 5 of those months I have been completely 100% symptom free. Prior to the change I was completely bedridden and my liver and kidneys were failing and were very very painful. Now I have no pain in my liver and kidneys and all my blood tests have come back normal!!!! A complete lifestyle change is critical. Vegan diet, at least 30 minutes of excercise, lots and lots of water, fresh air, sunshine, and good rest. All of that includes changing years of bad habits and it is in easy.....although it sounds simple. But I will tell you first hand, a, it will make a huge difference in your life!!! I stopped all my meds 2 weeks after making the changes. I had been on pain meds for over 7 years...and I walked away from them. :) It is wonderful to see a doctor who knows something about what truly helps FMS/CFS patients!! Guest guest
Hello, Well last night I woke up and I just cried. My left foot was hurting so badly I could not move it. This is the first time I've had this to happen. My foot was just awful. I was shocked by the pain for about 10 minutes, crying trying to move my foot in circles to work out this pain. It was so scary. Finally, I got it to where I could go back to sleep. Then, this morning when I awoke, everything with the foot was ok. But both calf muscles are so weak and sore today. Both arms are so sore and achy but I am determined to keep on truckin' today. Has anyone awoke with such pain in a certain area like this? a Faye

Hi a, I used to wake up in the middle of the night screaming because I had a cramp so bad I thought something was chewing on my muscles. During the cramp I have only found that massaging and flexing the muscle helps, not panicing is the most important thing, though. I take Potassium to counter-act this problem and since I've been taking Potassium I hardly ever get cramps that wake me up in the night (I do still get muscle spasms) and if I do get a cramp the severity of it is much less. My suggestion is to start taking Potassium supplements and eat bananas more often Good luck and take care, Charity __________________________________________________
