Guest guest
If there's one thing the Westboro Baptist Churchcan't resist, it's a chance to protest. Something. Anything. The opening of a lemonade stand, for God's sake. As long as it will get them press, they're there. So, naturally, the yahoos at WBC made the announcement last night that they're planning on protesting the funeral of Apple founder Steve Jobs. Classy. Margie Phelps, the daughter of the small church's founder, made the declaration via Twitter, saying, "Westboro will picket [steve Jobs'] funeral. He had a huge platform; gave God no glory & taught sin." The fun twist of irony, though? She posted to Twitter ... Via her iPhone. Of course, the fact that she used one of Apple's greatest innovations to make her announcement was met with plenty of backlash and ridicule. But she rectified the situation, tweeting: "Rebels mad cuz I used iPhone to tell you Steve Jobs is in hell.God created iPhone for that purpose!" In other words, it's cool, guys. She wasn't using something Steve Jobs created to capitalize on his death, she was using something God created. We all know that the people of the Westboro Baptist Church are crazy. And we all know that they, like most religious zealots (Warren Jeffs), really have no idea what exactly it is they stand for. They just want money, attention, and whatever's convenient/best for them. But protesting the funerals of people -- be it, Dunn, , Steve Jobs, or dead U.S. Soldiers -- not only makes them look horrifically tacky and callous, it makes them look even crazier. But perhaps (most likely) they don't care. Perhaps this is what they want -- press, attention, people talking (and blogging) about them. After all, who would give a rat's ass about the Westboro Baptist Church otherwise? It's like the basis of their religion is shit stirring. If they want to protest Steve Jobs' funeral, nobody's going to stop them. But I hope they realize that their ignoramus signs and mindless chants are going to be laughable juxtaposed with the memorial service for a man who brought more good and innovation into this world than they ever will. Have you had it with Westboro Baptist Church's protests? ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ Pragmatic Visionary http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php
