Guest guest
Dear Jo, Am so sorry you are going through all this. I had similar problems back about 18 years ago, winding up with a heart catherization. I eventually was put on 2 different medications, both affecting the heart in different ways-a calcium channel blocker and a beta blocker. They worked well for many years. Eventually, about 6 years ago I was taken off all my heart meds. Then, this spring I had chest pain-the first time I attributed it to having moved the wrong way. (Last year I was able--thank God--to return to my passion, working in Open Heart Surgery ICU as an RN). Then, about 3 days later, it happened at work. My rhythm was stable-PVCs or extra beats are quite common, but my blood pressure was high. One of the cardiologists I work with suggested a stress test and he felt the results were a false positive. Then, in August, I was given a new test called a CCTA (coronary CT arteriogram). It is a new type of diagnostic scan that shows plaque and blockages with just a small amount of dye injected. This CT takes 16 pictures a second. It showed two 50% blockages, one in a major vessel. Now I am on meds again and no recurrance of the pain or pressure. I am in my late 50's, but wanted to tell you that I understood what you are feeling and how scary it is! Hang in there! Things will get better. SVT can make you feel like you are coming out of your skin, I hope all is under control now and that you will be feeling better soon!. Gentle hugs, Sue J. Guest guest
Hi Sue: Your note re obtaining excellent medical investigation and treatment was so encouraging. I find that getting the docs to take a 17 yr. olds complaints seriously and following up with proper investigation so frustrating but am so glad to hear that perseverance resulted in good treatment for you. Hang in there Jo! Despite the annoyance of all these upcoming tests, obviously they can lead to effective treatment.
