Guest guest
Last week while I straightened up from doing some work and felt a pulling across my resurfaced joint. I thought I had pulled a muscle intially or had just stiffened up from being in a certain position for a long period; however, several hours later, I was very stiff and had lost my range of motion totally in external rotation. At this point, while I can walk just fine, I cannot lay my leg across my knee to tie my shoes or put on a sock. Prior to this problem, I could lay my leg flat across the opposite knee. There is also a little swelling or bulging (near the upper, rear part of the incision) which was not there before. My joint was resurfaced with the Cormet 2K in February 04 and the surgeon used a posterior approach. The resurfaced joint had performed perfectly until this happened. My therapist told me, via the phone, she thought it could be a strain or tear in the glutes...and that rest would help heal it. Has anyone else had an experience like this and if so, what did you do? Also, if its not a muscle/soft tissue problem, does anyone have any idea what it might be? (I have a call and an email into my doctor, but have not heard from him yet...) Is it time to start really worrying about the " really bad " stuff yet?
