Guest guest
Thank you for your wonderful support and kind thoughts, they help so much. I promise I am resting up and doing what I am told for a change as this really has knocked me for six. I'm very tired and sore now, I feel like I've been hit by a truck! I'm also struggling a bit emotionally too as I have time to think about it all and I'm actually more scared now that I was yesterday as a result. The whole situation and possibilities are hitting me hard today, leaving me very drained and unsettled. I've done a fair bit of crying this afternoon.... everything just feels so different and weird for some reason. Even my heart beat feels different and I'm more aware of every single beat, almost waiting for it to go wrong again. Very strange indeed. My parents are being great if a little protective, they are obviously scared about this too though. It has shaken us all immensely as those possible effects in the text books, suddenly became real yesterday and it was a huge shock to actually confront them. I'm sure that I will get a handle on all of this, especially once my tests start coming through and hopefully we can get to grips with the cause and management, but it is going to be hard. I had to laugh yesterday though as I was examined by a sweet young doctor who looked wet behind the ears still and of course he'd never seen a real life EDSer before! It was so comical as his eyes grew wider and wider as he read my notes and asked me questions about the condition. And when he did actually examine me he was so nervous I thought he was going to pass out....he was so worried about dislocating me, bless him! It took a lot of reassuring that as long as I was prepared for what he was going to do I would be okay. Then after he had finished he started rather sheepishly asking me if I could do lots of hypermobile stuff and whether it hurt - which I knew full well was a polite code for can I see you party tricks! I obliged by doing a pretty minor thumb to wrist sign for him at which his eyes almost popped out of his head and was greeted with a rather stunned " Oh, that's very impressive! " as he turned a rather green hue.... he didn't ask to see anymore funnily enough. Shame as my foot behind the ear move would have really got him going hee-hee!! ;- ) Anyway, take care everyone and know that I am thinking of you all too. Love and hugs....Jo xxx
