..I hope it doesn't sound 'wrong' but I'm glad she was in a coma when she passed . Can you shoot bears in the US. Here the stupid law stopped bear hunting and they've become dangerous rather than just a nuisance. A woman here was attacked by one in her backyard and a paperboy luckily escaped from one .... hugs, Cait

Bear attack victim dies

The woman who was attacked by the bear close to me died last night. She had gone through numerous surgeries and was in an induced coma. Since I had told everyone about it when it happened I thought I should send this sad update.

As far as I know, you can to protect yourself at any time, but in Alaska, I believe,  there is a bear hunting season.  A friend of mine's sister live up there, and every year they get their limit on what they can get, and send some down to her.

..That's how it was here and it worked. Unfortunately the powers that be live in S Ontario and have no real idea what it like up here in the North. I've even found myself cursing at deer (yes I love those critters) but there seems to be nothing to do to keep them out of gardens ... hugs, Cait
