Been so quiet, how I'm feeling, Tysabri #2, and ramblings....much ramblings

It's been so quiet without Sharon not here and nothing really going on.  I though my flare was over today.  I really did.  And then the spasms kicked in.  After a while, dizziness kicked in too.  So I guess it's not over.

We haven't hit the grocery store in a while - we managed to last on what we had.  But when hubby dropped Devin off up at the high school for marching band practice, I had him hit the store for a couple of things, knowing how my last Ty infusion reacted with me.  I know, I know, it's horrible food, but I had him pick up family packs of cheese sticks and potato skins so they could just be thrown in the oven for tomorrow night.  It's just easier that way, so that if I end up cooking, all I have to do is turn the oven on, basically.  And frankly, I don't think I'll be in the mood to do much but curl up on the couch.  I feel that way right now as it is, but the couch just increases my SI nerve pain and muscle spasming.  Before we even leave tomorrow, I'm predosing with my fioricet and my flexeril.  I don't want to start spasming up, and then have to wait until I get home to deal with it - especially as I have to stop into DHS and get my renewal turned in for our food stamps on our way home.

Hubby's worried that with the crappy way I'm feeling now, and the side effects of the Tysabri, I shouldn't be out the football game friday night - Devin's band performs at halftime.  I think he's even concerned about me going out to the competition on Saturday - because when I mentioned staying home Friday so i could do Saturday, he said, " We'll see how you feel. "   In other words, you aren't going Saturday unless its under specific circumstances and he okays it, so that decision may be made Saturday morning.

The weather here's gotten confused.  Near 90's for three days, and tonight a storm's coming in and the high tomorrow is going to be in the 60's.  I think the ever changing weather may be messing me up, too.  Had a few migraines that nothing worked on - need to add that to the list of things to talk to my pcp about Thursday, and ask her to please let me take Midrin again.  If she's not going to let me take Excedrin (I'm on an no N-said order) then something has got to give.  Fioricet has never gotten rid of a headache in my life.  So I'm piling ibuprofen on top of my fioricet to get rid of headaches - I guess making me non compliant on the no n-saids thing, but this is only the second time I've done it, as hubby has read me the riot act every other time I've tried.  I figure fioricet + ibuprofen (we never buy aspirin - holdover from Reye's syndrome training for parents) + a can of mountain dew is just about right to approximate excedrin migraine (which is aspirin+tylenol+caffeine).  Man, just typing that out brings back memories for me.  My mom couldn't find excedrin when she went on a grocery run (she used it for migraines - she called them her headaches, even when I was 17) so she sent my brother out, told him to get the generic.  He came home with generic bufferin.  She didn't tell me what he came home with, just that he came home with the wrong one.  Then she sent me out....I did the same thing.  Evidently they don't make generic excedrin anymore.  Even then (20 years ago).  We've never been able to find it generic either.  Mom ended up just getting no doze, and combining the bufferin and tylenol to essentially do the same thing.  Between her " spastic colon " and her ulcers, she's kept her gastro doc in business.

Wow, my mind wandered with that one.  Even then, though, mom knew she shouldn't be taking aspirin.  She had a long history of ulcers, and at that point, she lost so much weight, that she was adding the slim fast orange drink to her oj in the morning for the extra calories - she dropped below 100 pounds, and probably the most hurt thing I ever heard from her about it was she had to buy new bras, and the size she was then, they only made lightly padded bras.  She thought it was ridiculous that a woman nearing 50 would have to put up with the padding....and it was even worse to her, because at the time, I had the biggest boobs in the family, lol.  My sister was borderline anorexic, so she didn't have any either.  Now that my sister is at a healthy weight - she gives me competition....but nursing kinda ruined my breasts.

At one point in time, my mom was put on blood thinners....but I remember she sprained her ankle and the bruise covered half her leg.  Then her doctor " discovered " that people with ulcer history shouldn't be on blood thinners.  So he took her off.  That was about 16 years ago.  Then after her triple, maybe quadruple bypass surgery and femoral bypasses 10 years ago, they put her on a daily aspirin regiment.  You guessed it - she sprouted ulcers again.  My mom has taken to naming her ulcers, and I'm proud to say that none of them have been named after me.....mainly because of fortiutous timing on my part - my issues were never when she having ulcers, lol.  So off the daily aspirin therapy.  Several months ago, mom had a scary situation where the blood from her main artery wasn't getting down her leg - luckily she had enough peripheral circulation to keep her leg viable, because it took 6 hours at the local ER to decide to send her to , and it took another 18 hours to figure out that her leg was still viable and she could be operated on.  But now she's back on blood thinners for life - because the doc told her if it happens again, there would be no saving her leg, because they had to bypass the bypass - they were running out of blood vessels to graft.  She's getting ulcer symptoms now, four months later, and she knows she has to get this taken care of quickly, so they don't become bleeding ulcers....

OMG, I rambled on.  I can do that....just spout off at the mouth like that, and if someone doesn't stop me, it just keeps coming out....usually if I do it verbally, hubby does stop me, lol.  " Get to the point, dear. "   " I don't have a point. "   " Okay, we can talk about  it later if you want. "   LOL
