Hi all,

I need some help locating studies discussing ligament damage

resulting from a quick force on muscles -

I know Mike has said that no one with EDS or hypermobility should

have a chiro (or anyone else) do cracking and popping on them - that

it could potentially cause ligament damage. I concure, but I need a

study or something written down.

I've also read somewhere that even passive stretching is bad since it

can overstretch the ligaments.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense - my chiro - the one who I brag

about all the time - cracked my neck big time on Monday - hurt

horribly!! Immediately I was dizzy, nauseous and had shooting pains

in my head. Now it's Thursday and my head still hurts -neck and

shoulders hurt, too. I've tried everything I can think of, ice,

heat, Gach, cranialsacral, stretching, electric acupuncture, rest,

relaxation exercises, yoga. I know I'm not thinking straight.

I'm really pissed about this - she should know better - we've

discussed it before and agreed that it wasn't good for me. So now

I'm in pain and can't think clearly - noise hurts, light hurts,

walking hurts - It has basically put me out of commission for the

last several days which is really messing up my being a teacher/mom

to my girls.

So anyway, I need to locate info about how chiropractic 'popping'

overstretches the ligaments causing damage.

Why did she do that to me? She's diagnosed ligament damage in the

neck for my oldest daughter and myself. Why didn't I scream and stop

her as I realized what was about to happen? I guess I trusted her.

Won't make that mistake again - you can have a doctor that is great,

but it appears that you always need to second guess them and never

trust them if you are not totally convinced that the treatment will

be good for you. Note to self - nobody understands my body like I

do, not even a chiro who I've seen more than once per week for the

last 2 1/2 years.

If my head ever stops hurting and spinning, and I can't find a

study/article online, I will just have to write one myself.

Doctors are so GRRRRRR!
