Guest guest
Hi : I didn't go to Belgium alone but I did go to Birmingham alone, and can tell you that as long as you just expect to slow everything down substantially from your normal speed, you won't have anything to worry about. Just give yourself lots of time for everything and don't worry about being a slowpoke. Revel in it. I'm pretty calm, cool, and collected at the moment (ha ha), but sometimes start to feel extremely anxious.

Guest guest
Hello , I went by myself to Belgium in April. It really is not bad at all. You will meet many Americans and Canadians to hook up with and your roomate in the hospital. You can hook up with a lot of them on this site. Everyone is very helpful and I only to ask for help a couple of times even though it was offered all the time. You will be on the same floor at the hotel after your surgery so it's easy to get help. You will be amazed at well you will be getting around anyway. The only thing I wish I had was something to help put my teds on, a lot of behind the back putting on stuff. Anymore Questions please ask Mike > HI All, > > I'm scheduled for surgery on the llth of August with Dr. De Smet. > My sister was planning to come to assist me, but unfortunately, > she will be unable to accompany me now. > > Has anyone else gone to Belgium alone that can help me out > with some unexspected tips or instances that might occur? Guest guest
Hi . I went to Belgium alone and can tell you about my experience. First of all, it's very do-able physcially and very do-able mentally... especially if you're there with a good group of surfers.. which I was. You will be there with the BHR Band and I can guarantee you will have a lot of fun. The members of the band will probably read your post and be sympathetic to your situation. It would help to contact them before you go so you have a support system in place. It was very comforting to know the families of my group were there if I needed them. Please feel free to contact me directly for more details. Guest guest
Hello back, ! I went to Ghent on my own back in January and aside from the usual worst case scenario anxiety, all went pretty smoothly. I would be happy to share thoughts and suggestions if you like, otherwise travel light and baggy and stay there as long as you're able. You'll have a terrific time and will have all the help you'll need with anything just for the asking. Take good care, Steve Vince Bilat BHR De Smet Jan 6, 2004 > HI All, > > I'm scheduled for surgery on the llth of August with Dr. De Smet. > My sister was planning to come to assist me, but unfortunately, > she will be unable to accompany me now. > > Has anyone else gone to Belgium alone that can help me out > with some unexspected tips or instances that might occur?
