Well done Cheryl !! You must be so proud of yourself.

My left leg was likened to that of an elephant... the hip, the knee, the ankle

and the foot! Huge and squidgy ! And getting knickers that were comfortable

without the elastic cutting into the wound was almost impossible. Winter had

just begun so a sarong was right out of the question. Thank goodness I had

bought track pants and large roomy knickers just in case! It took 10 days, as

assured by the hospital staff, for my leg and knee to look sort of normal again.

And now, at 6 weeks, even tho the scales stay the same, I look slimmer becasue I

walk taller and straighter.

take care and enjoy the enforced rest - sure beats the rush of a more than full

time job!

Hi everyone I finally had courage to go ahead with resurf. Nearly

chickened out at last minute as my surgeon told me he could'nt

coming through pelvis! This was five minutes before going into

theatre! He did say he was not a man to give uo though!!!!!! Well

that was last Wednesday and I am now at home happy and feeling good

except for looking like a a tele tubbie!!!! My operated leg is huge

and I feel like I am two different women. My top half is slim and my

bottom is huge. I can't get into any clothes and am walking round in

a sarong and a vest!!! What I want to ask you expereienced hippies

is - How long will i be like this and any tips for reducing the

swelling? Thanks Cheryl x

This seems to be really individual. I bought larger size underwear and

sweatpants to wear after surgery (something that a number of folks

here suggested because of their experiences). I, however, had almost

no swelling at all.

Anyway, perhaps a group of us should throw together a pre-op/post-op

checklist aqnd " things to expect " for the " Files " section of the

website. It's occurred to me that an FAQ (list of Frequently Asked

Questions) might not be a bad idea, either.
