Guest guest
On my return flight from Brussels to Madison, WI we had reserved the front Coach seat area (bulk head seats?)- I forgot the term. My companion, my mom, was a million miles flyer with United Airlines, so we were hoping for an upgrade to business class but the flight was full. I was very happy with our coach seats, probably better than the business section and I'll tell you why: 1) I'm only 5' 8 " tall and I could almost stand and stretch out in that area-especially if the aisles were crowded with passengers or attendants with carts. 2) The attendants took my metal elbow style crutches away- I didn't ask why but I assumed for security reasons. No matter, since I could walk the aisles by lightly touching the seat tops, I was able to do a lot of walking and exercising. Being bilateral, I was very proud and happy to be able to do this on day 14 post surgery. I liked the idea of the fairly short over the ocean return day flight so I wouldn't sleep and thus put myself in straining positions. It is very important to keep loose throughout the flight to prevent potential clots. Of course, that is why the double dose of anti-clot shots to the stomach are essential. I also liked the fact that I had a long layover in DC airport and Chicago O'Hare, this enabled me to rest and walk around to exercise the legs. Remember to reserve or ask for the wheel chair for the airports. This is very important for the long distances in the Brussels Airport (even if you think you can handle the walk-this is no time to be macho)- The wheel chair is also important to bypass the security lines and get through quickly-very nice convenience! Good luck. Saeed Simultaneous bilateral w/Dr. DeSmet 7-2-
