Hello All,

My name is Sam, I'm a 26 year old pediatric nurse in Los Angeles. I

have bilater hip dysplasia diagnosed at age 16. I had a left hip

periacetabular osteotomy in May 1994 and then the right hip in Dec

1994. In the Fall of 2002 I began to have increased pain in my right

hip and saw an OS who said I had bursitis. I did a lot of resting,

ice and anti-inflammatories and then once the symptoms got better I

did a lot of PT. Even though I've continued the PT and have decreased

my work load (I used to work 12 hour night shift on a very busy

Pediatric ICU, and I now work 8 hour shifts as an IV/PICC nurse on

days) I began to have increased pain in the last 6 months. I saw Dr.

Beaulet here in LA and I have a torn labrum with an area of

ulceration in the right hip he also said the femur head is large and

egg shaped with a short neck. I haven't seen him since I had the CT

with arthrogram contrast (I'm scheduled to july 9th). I was wondering

if anyone could tell me more about the Metal covers for the femur

head. Apparently my acetabulum are in good shape and are providing

very good coverage. I know I need surgery but I know very little

about the femur surgeries and of course have a million questions!

thanks,

Sam
