Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Just a quick update on Raffi, my 5 lb toy poodle who had pin surgery 10 days ago to repair a severely fractured front leg that didn't heal after 5 weeks of casting. Today we saw the vet for a splint change and so far so good! The vet said his leg actually looked better today, then it did the day before his surgery! So that is excellent :-) He had some pressure sores but the vet says they are healing up. Raffi is also toe touching a little which the vet says is a good sign :-D He has at least another 2 weeks of strict crate rest and then at the 3 week post op mark we're booked for more x-rays which will hopefully show bone regeneration, good healing, and give Raffi the OK to begin moving around again. I'm also ordering a teeny tiny little dog life jacket as when we're finally ready for rehab the vet thought my idea of giving him pool therapy in our deep whirlpool tub to be an excellent one. We're suppose to start him just floating in a life jacket doing gentle paddling. I can't wait for the day when I can start him in the tub and onto the road of recovery. So, things are still a little touch n' go, but so far so good!!!!! Thank you so much for all your prayers and thoughts and well wishes for our special little guy. They definitely seem to be working! (((HUGS))) -Rhea PS. Raffi enjoyed the car ride there, but when we got out of the car and he saw the vet clinic he started barking and struggling in our arms. Once in he growled at the secretary and when the vet was holding him and cooing at him Raffi couldn't bear to make eye contact with him. He's obviously very disgusted with this whole business! Boy did he give us one big 'abused dog' look when we gave him to the vet for his splint change, LoL. He was quite and I think well behaved while they worked although it took two vet techs and the vet to change this 5 lb dog's splint! LoL Anyway " the look " worked well on Dad as we weren't back in the car 10 mins. before he had found a groccery store that carries Raffi's favourite treat and gave him a huge chunk of one. :-D
